American Crime Story season 3, known as Impeachment, tells the story of President Bill Clinton’s affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, the scandal around it that led to his impeachment, and the accusations of sexual harassment and assault lodged against the leader of the free world.

In this show, he is not a sympathetic character. Whispers sweep through D.C. about his advances on female employees, their acceptance or rejection of him, and the precarious house of cards the Clinton administration sits on that the conservatives and Republicans are looking to knock over with a sexual harassment case that’ll set him up for perjury.

While we first meet the president at the tail end of the premiere, “Exiles,” it’s not until episode 2 “The President Kissed Me” that the audience gets a true feel for Bill. Let us tell you, it’s not a good one. His scenes with Monica are creepy.

The two are a matched pair. He’s swarmy, and she’s obsessive. It’s clear from their first scene together in the same room that this is not a love story, American Crime Story season 3 has no interest in romanticizing their relationship.

As the series progresses, we’re more than likely going to get a front row seat to this character’s selfishness, self-importance, and callousness as the wolves circle and more than one takes a deserving bite out of his legacy.

But who plays the president from Arkansas whose charm hides a predilection for deceit and the abuse of his power? The answer may surprise you.

The actor who plays Bill Clinton in American Crime Story season 3

The English actor Clive Owen stepped into the shoes of Bill Clinton for Impeachment. It’s quite the transformation with a spot-on accent.

Owen is an award-winning actor with a breadth of experience as he’s been active since 1987 and has had roles on television, in film, and on the stage. His turn as Dr. John W. Thackery on The Knick is likely his most memorable role on the small screen, he also served as executive producer on 10 of the show’s episodes.

As immersive as Owen is in the character of Bill Clinton, another Emmy nom could be in his future. We’ll have to keep watching to see. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and coverage on Impeachment: American Crime Story.
