A24, as a company, has been behind some pretty eccentric and insane films. They have a knack for making anxiety inducing films that other studios wouldn’t dare to touch. They have gone for some pretty insane ideas, but their newest horror film, Lamb, might just top the list of weird and crazy thoughts.

Lamb is a horror film that tells the story of a childless Icelandic couple who find an unnatural newborn in their sheep barn. The couple decides to take it in, but in turn disrupt the natural forces of nature that is trying to reclaim the child.

If you’ve seen the trailer for this film, you know how twisted, dark, and confusing it is. This film is the directorial debut for Valdimar Jóhannsson, who has primarily done special effect work on movies such as The Tomorrow War and Transformers: Age of Extinction. The film also stars Noomi Rapace, Hilmir Snær Guðnason, and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson.

This film initially appeared at the Cannes Film Festival – where Valdimar Jóhannsson won the “Prize of Originality – to fairly positive reviews (83% on Rotten Tomatoes).

The wide release is scheduled for October 8, but will the movie be in theaters only, or on streaming as well?

Will Lamb be available on streaming services?

Unfortunately, no. A24 isn’t a studio very likely to release their films on streaming, and Lamb is no different. A24 also isn’t a studio that usually releases their films in a wide release platform.

Their films are ones that find a more niche audience rather than a mainstream one. With Lamb‘s – interesting – premise, I would say that if you are seeking out this horror film, check in with your local arthouse theaters first. It seems more likely that a film like this would make its way to smaller venues, with a possibility of a wider release if there is enough support for it.

If this film does manage to pick up on a wider release, or if it finds its way on a streaming platform, we will update this page so that you all know!

OCT. 28, 2021, UPDATE: Lamb is now available for rent.
