On the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 premiere, Meredith was offered the chance to run a Parkinson’s cure project. Did she take it on?

When Meredith headed to Minnesota, many people at Grey Sloan Memorial worried that she would be poached and would end up leaving. She didn’t expect that, but it turned out that was exactly what was happening.

She was offered the opportunity of a lifetime. She would have a lab with her name on it to find a cure for Parkinson’s. Rather than just immediately say yes or no, she decided to call in a neurosurgeon she’d want to work on the project with: Amelia.

Of course, Amelia was more than excited about the idea of the project. How could anyone turn down the chance to cure Parkinson’s? What was stopping Meredith from saying yes?

Will Meredith cure Parkinson’s on Grey’s Anatomy?

It turned out that Meredith worried that her first big thing after surviving COVID would turn out to be a failure. But she needs to take on this risk.

Before she said yes, she had some conditions. At the end of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18, Episode 2, she makes it clear that she needs full autonomy, to pick her own team, and to make any findings and cure fully accessible.

Those were conditions Dr. Hamilton was more than happy to meet. There was just one that he couldn’t agree to. Meredith wanted to move the lab to Grey Sloan Memorial, but it would be too expensive and time-consuming to do that. Everything was already at The Clinic.

So, Meredith made it clear that she wouldn’t move to Minnesota. She could come once a week and do the rest of the research in Seattle. With Dr. Hamilton agreeing to that, Meredith agreed to head the project. It’s time for her to cure Parkinson’s on Grey’s Anatomy.
