Non-scary Halloween movies and shows to stream online

Just because you love Halloween, doesn’t mean you necessarily love all of the horror and thriller films that come along with the season. There are lots of ways to celebrate the holiday and get in the fall spirit without being terrified. These non-scary Halloween movies and shows don’t sacrifice story or your favorite fall elements.

And non-scary Halloween movies are not just for kids! They’re great for getting into the spirit of the season, nostalgic movie nights with friends, and most are also great to watch with the whole family. Here are the some of our favorite non-scary Halloween movies and shows to watch online this year!

Non-scary Halloween movies and shows on Netflix

Many of Netflix’s titles are aimed at family audiences, especially Halloween movies like Paranorman, A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, and Monster House. The popular series Good Witch is also a great watch, and there’s a new dark fantasy film released this year called Nightbooks that has been praised as an “entry-level” horror story. Adam Sandler’s Halloween movie, Hubie Halloween, is one of our favorites on the platform, and though there are just a few jump scare moments, it’s all in good fun.

Non-scary Halloween movies and shows on Disney+

Disney+ has a few new non-scary titles out this month as well as nostalgic and recent Disney movies available to stream. New this year is the movie Under Wraps, which is a remake of the 90s DCOM. There’s a new tv special that Disney Parks fans will especially enjoy that features the cast of the Muppets titled “Muppets: Haunted Mansion”. We also love to revisit our favorite non-scary Halloween movies on Disney+ like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, the Halloweentown anthology, Zombies, The Descensants trilogy, and Maleficent.

Non-scary Halloween movies and shows on Hulu

Hulu has put together some collections to make it easier to find great non-scary Halloween movies and television episodes too. Check out their “Family Halloween Episode” Collection to see all of the Halloween-themed episodes from tv series available on Hulu. They also have a “Funniest Halloween Episode” Collection with some laugh-out-loud stories. For movies, you can watch Edward Scissorhands, The Addams Family, the What We Do in the Shadows series, and Madagascar: A Little Wild.
