Queens, the music drama starring Brandy, Eve, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez, premieres tonight on ABC!

The series picks up 20 years after The Nasty B**tches were the reigning queens of hip-hop. With their hit album long behind them, they’ve settled into lives that don’t quite fulfill them.

Naomi (Brandy) never made it big without her girls though you can find her at open mic nights dealing with hecklers. Brianna (Eve) is an under-appreciated mother of five who misses the confident, sexy woman she used to be. Jill (Naughton) found God and lives in Montana. While Valeria is a morning talk show host whose rise in notoriety has only brought her loneliness.

It’s less that the mighty fell and more that they all stalled after losing each other due to in-fighting, an industry bent on pitting them against one another, and behind-the-scenes romantic drama that messed up the good thing they all had together.

But when the opportunity rises for the group to reunite, they all leap at the chance to recapture their former glory.

What is the Queens premiere about?

The premiere episode, “1999,” plays double duty establishing who the Nasty B**tches were at the height of their success and who they are now without one another. However, when BET comes calling, all four members see it as a chance to reclaim what they lost.

Do they still have the magic they once held at the tip of their fingertips or will their current lives get in the way? The saying goes that you can never truly go back but perhaps these ladies can forge a new path together once they move past what broke them apart in the first place.
