How many episodes are in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18?
Krista Vernoff has shared some teases for the 400th episode of Grey’s Anatomy. By sharing when that will be we know the planned episode count for Season 18.
Can you believe we’re getting to the 400th episode of Grey’s Anatomy already? Showrunner Krista Vernoff has teased a “pretty big event” coming in the episode.
It has a lot to beat with the other milestone episodes the series has seen. The 300th episode brought a homage to some of the characters gone before, and we already had a full season last year that included some deceased characters, including Derek, George, Lexi, and Sloan.
What we do know about the 400th episode is that it won’t be a black and white movie musical. The series has already done a musical episode, and that is one of the most debated about episodes of the entire series. Not everyone enjoyed it!
Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 episode count
What Vernoff did say was when the 400th episode would be in the series. It’s currently planned as the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 finale. It means we can say just how many episodes this season is supposed to have—something that has been up in the air for all shows during the pandemic.
With the series airing 388 episodes to date (as of the Dec. 16, 2021 episode), it means there will be 20 episodes to Season 18. The winter finale was the eighth episode of the season. We’re used to 24 episodes per season, but with the show not returning until the end of February from its winter break instead of January, four fewer episodes makes sense.
However, it is possible that the 400th episode will be pushed into Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 and become the season premiere instead. Vernoff made a note that further COVID delays could lead to the show having to drop an episode from its season.
Grey’s Anatomy returns with its all-new episodes on Thursday, Feb. 24. Catch up on the recent season on Hulu.
