See how the men of Friends paid tribute to James Michael Tyler
Friends fans were extremely saddened to hear the news this past weekend that actor James Michael Tyler passed away after a battle with cancer. The celeb, who was best known for his role as Gunther in the long-running sitcom, was 59 years old.
Tyler did not physically attend the Friends reunion special which hit HBO Max earlier this year, and the actor later explained why during an appearance on the Today Show, where he revealed his cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately, he had been suffering from stage 4 prostate cancer.
Friends cast pays tribute to James Michael Tyler
Among those paying tribute to Tyler’s life, of course, have been both fans of Friends and the cast members. Courteney Cox (Monica Geller) was one of the first actors to share a heartfelt Instagram post, as was Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green). You can also check out Lisa Kudrow’s (Phoebe Buffay) post here.
It looks like the six main cast members of Friends have all now taken time to share posts about their late co-star, who passed away on Oct. 24.
Below you can check out how David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani) and Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) paid tribute to Tyler.
David Schwimmer shared a classic photo of Tyler while playing Gunther on Friends, calling the late actor “such a big hearted gentleman.”
Matt LeBlanc shared two photos to his Instagram page, one showing a scene between Gunther and Joey. “You will be missed,” he wrote in his caption.
For Matthew Perry’s part, he chose not to post on Instagram and instead send a message about Tyler’s passing on Twitter, calling him a “good friend.”
