Impeachment: American Crime Story has captivated audiences with the story of a young woman’s relationship with the most powerful man in the world.

The new season of the limited anthology series premiered on Sept. 7, 2021. When will Impeachment: American Crime Story end? Ryan Murphy’s compelling anthology features ten episodes, so the season finale will air on Nov. 9, 2021.

Impeachment: American Crime Story features ten episodes

The story is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal that Nearly Brought Down a President. Beanie Feldstein plays Monica Lewinsky and Sarah Paulson stars as Linda Tripp. Edie Falco plays Hillary Clinton and Clive Owen portrays President Bill Clinton.

Anyone who was old enough to understand what was happening in the mid-1990s will recall the scandalous affair between Clinton and his young intern Lewinsky. Though Clinton was impeached (but never removed from office), it was Lewinsky who bore the brunt of the fallout from the scandal.

Murphy puts the spotlight on the young woman and her older friend, Linda Tripp, who secretly recorded their conversations and fanned the flames of the scandal. Looking back through the lens of history, it’s worth noting that the media scrutiny was decidedly one-sided against Lewinsky so the series – on which Monica Lewinsky herself is an executive producer – is a chance to reveal what was happening behind the scenes.

This insight flips the script on the media circus that was taking place at the time, in a world where people still relied on the evening news and newspapers because the internet was in its infancy and social media wasn’t around.

Seeing the events from Lewinsky’s perspective, paired with the narrative that history provides, paints an incredibly fascinating picture of what was happening at this turning point in Clinton’s presidency.
