Batwoman season 3 episode 4 livestream: “Antifreeze”

Batwoman season 3 continues to strike at the heart of sibling relationships in episode 4 “Antifreeze.”

Last episode, “Freeze,” brought Ryan face-to-face with her brother, Marquis Jet. She thought she would have to keep their relation to herself due to Jada’s insistence that she stay away from her family. However, Marquis knew that she’s his younger sister. It seems his nanny should have done a better job keeping house gossip from reaching his ears back in the day.

Undeterred by his mother’s warning to Ryan, Marquis intends to get to know his sister and wants to strike up a partnership to prove their business acumen to Jada. Ryan, however, isn’t willing to risk getting on her birth mother’s bad side especially when it could spell ruin for Team Bat.

Speaking of siblings, Mary and Alice flexed their sisterly combativeness throughout the episode as Alice told her a hard truth from an outsider’s perspective. Ryan and Luke only see her when they need her, otherwise they completely ignore her medical advice when it comes to crime fighting.

Mary didn’t believe her, but when she informed Ryan about Luke’s PTSD, it went exactly how Alice said it would. She was heard but not listened to and Luke brushed off what she said about his trauma concerning his shooting. Something tells us this will come back to bite them in a sticky situation.

Though we hope it’s not the one episode 4 “Antifreeze” has set-up.

What is Batwoman season 3 episode 4 “Antifreeze” about?

Ryan and the rest of the team thought they’d handled the remnants of Mr. Freeze’s quest turned obsession to save his wife, Nora. But it looks like the past was simply prologue. While Ryan does have what’s left of the liquid nitrogen Batman trophy locked away in the bat cave, her fight over the villain’s weaponry isn’t done.

Though that’s not surprising given the team that had taken Nora and her sister, Dee, hostage ran off with the scientist’s notebook full of his theories and inventions. This Big Bad’s legacy hasn’t been put to bed and the blow back from that reality will, unfortunately, put Sophie’s sister, Jordan, in danger.

It’s a situation that’s sure to bring Ryan and Sophie closer as the two are not only confiding in one another but also flirting. They have Jordan’s blessing if Sophie’s willing to take that leap, but Ryan also has a lot going on.

Marquis isn’t taking no for an answer when it comes to forging a sibling bond with her which is liable to send things pear-shaped in the Jada department which is the last thing Team Bat needs.

Also, Mary’s late night out that leaves her not feeling like herself has Poison Ivy’s name all over it considering it was a vine that pulled the doctor into a bush last episode. Not to mention Alice is falling deeper into her delusions with very little in the way of a support system to help her tell reality from the imaginary.

It’s rough out here for this team currently but perhaps that gives more reason for Sophie and Ryan to explore what’s kindling between them. They could be a bright spot in the grimdark circumstances of their lives at the moment. Only time will tell.
