The World Series took the top spot in the TV ratings. It’s not surprising to see that all other shows took a tumble in the live ratings.

If I’m honest, I was surprised to see that the other networks didn’t preempt episodes due to the World Series getting to Game 6. We usually see that happen because the networks won’t compete for the live TV ratings. However, CBS, ABC, NBC, and The CW all kept up the usual programming.

That may have been a mistake. Game 6 pilled in 11.76 million viewers and a 2.7 demo rating, claiming the top spot. We knew that was going to happen. Everything else fell in the live ratings except for Supergirl‘s demo, which rose by 11%.

Stargirl and Supergirl are the two shows we weren’t concerned about at all. Stargirl has already been renewed for Season 3 and we’re into Supergirl‘s final episodes. So, it’s not all too surprising The CW took a risk and faced the dips.

FBIs, La Brea, and Queens all down in the live TV ratings

The three FBI shows aired new episodes after two weeks off. Maybe this is why CBS decided not to have another break since the shows had already been off the air for two weeks. FBI Season 4 kicked things off with a steady-enough audience and a 14% dip in the demo. It was the highest demo and audience of the night out of normal programming.

FBI: International pulled in the second-highest figures, despite the 13% dip in the demo and 5% dip in the total audience. FBI: Most Wanted continued that with the third-highest figures but that came with a 36% dip in the demo and 13% dip in the total audience. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Most Wanted, but we’re expecting the other two FBI shows to be renewed.

NBC had a disappointing night, too. The Voice fell by 35% in the demo and 26% in the audience compared to the previous Tuesday. It pulled in the fourth-best audience but the demo was joint second-best with FBI: International.

The dips continued with La Brea down 32% in the demo and 23% in the audience. New Amsterdam was down 18% in the demo and 20% in the audience. We don’t have to worry about the medical drama; it’s already renewed for Season 5. I think The Voice is safe, and with La Brea being the best new drama of the whole season across all broadcast networks, I’m expecting a Season 2 renewal.

ABC’s The Bachelorette matched FBI Season 4’s demo, despite a 15% dip. The audience was down 8%. While the numbers are disappointing, I’m still expecting the series to be renewed.

It’s Queens I’m most concerned about. It’s 3% dip in the demo wouldn’t be too bad considering the number matches New Amsterdam, but its 20% dip in the total audience is extremely worrying. At 1.17 million viewers in the live TV ratings last night, ABC may pull the plug. The network has been known to pull the plug during a season airing.

However, ABC wants this show to succeed. There are reruns during the normal TGIT lineup this week since Grey’s Anatomy and Big Sky are on a break. This may help to boost the ratings for next Tuesday.
