NCIS season 19 episode 7 introduced a member of the McGee-Fielding family and we loved every single second of it! McGee’s mother-in-law Judy Price Fielding, played by the amazing Patricia Richardson, is on a cruise when she comes across the deceased body of Navy Commander Roger Burrows.

Because of the nature of the investigation, the ship has to stay docked since the murderer may still be on the ship. They don’t want to take the chance of the person involved getting away. In the meantime, it becomes clear that Judy herself is in danger when her home explodes.

Due to her needing to be in protective custody, Judy stays with Tim and Delilah. This becomes an apparent problem since Delilah and her mother are constantly arguing. Delilah has been very protective of her mother since her father died, and Judy has a tendency to keep things from her daughter.

Eventually, McGee is able to get them to agree to talk to one another, putting his foot down so they know what the other needs to hear. As difficult as it is, it does help Delilah and Judy talk things out.

NCIS season 19 episode 7 introduced us to McGee’s mother-in-law

The case this week had so many twists and turns as they tried to figure out who killed Burrows. At first, you may have thought it was one person, but this time it turned out to be someone else. Usually, it’s easy to see who the killer is since it is so obvious. But sometimes the obvious answer isn’t always the right answer.

After going so long without seeing Delilah for more than a short time, it was great to see her and McGee together. They have been one of the most stable relationships on this show and we’re glad McGee gets to have someone to go home to at the end of the day. We also hope we get to see more of his in-laws, and maybe his sister since she got a mention as well!

NCIS season 19 episode 7 also found the team struggling to use a new app to help them communicate during the case. Of course, they are not used to this at all and we can imagine if Gibbs were present, he would have thrown his phone into a glass of water. It was entertaining to see them trying to adapt to one of Parker’s new ideas.

It did help to lead into Parker and Torres communicating. This is a good thing, especially taking into account that Nick is still clearly struggling with the new changes. But maybe now they will be able to establish a line of communication that works for them.
