The Walker season 2 mid-season finale bids a tearful goodbye to Micki Ramirez as Lindsey Morgan exits the show.

When Morgan announced her departure from The CW reboot in October, fans wondered how the show would handle losing its second lead. Now, before anyone panics, Micki is still alive and well. No stray bullets or switchblades were pulled on this sharp-witted ranger, not that they’d stand a chance really.

Instead, Micki resigns from her position, hands in her badge and moves back home to San Antonio with her mother. She needs time to heal, to discover who she is and who she wants to be. Her decision comes after a whirlwind of emotion and devastation following an undercover operation turned tragedy.

The beginning of season 2 picks up with Micki working a solo case under an alias. Wires soon become entangled when a former lover of hers appears in the crossfire, creating a conflict of interest for the ranger, but when Walker’s (Jared Padalecki) life is put at risk, Micki jumps into action – triggering her PTSD.

What does this mean for Micki and Trey (Jeff Pierre)? Micki finally comes clean about what’s been bothering her, leading the couple to reevaluate where their relationship stands. With Trey remaining in Austin, the two share one last bittersweet moment together and reluctantly break things off.

Morgan has played an integral role to the show from the very beginning, bringing great depth and a remarkable authenticity to the character. Micki is bold and courageous and it shines whenever she appears on screen.

Conveying a strong message on inclusion and diversity, Micki is vocal about the power imbalance between herself and her male colleagues, highlighting the very real challenges she faces.

Morgan amplifies a certain charisma and adds a sense of realism to Walker which will most certainly be missed when the show returns. Her chemistry with Padalecki is unmatched, bringing an iconic duo to life with a heartfelt bond felt on and off-screen.

In October, Morgan announced her decision to leave the series due to personal reasons but she and the network have expressed interested in reprising her role in the future.

Though it’s goodbye for now, Micki’s impact on Walker won’t be forgotten anytime soon and we can look forward to a hopeful reunion.

Walker will return to The CW on Jan. 13, 2022.
