Acapulco

Earlier this year, I thought Eugenio Derbez stole the show in the Apple TV+ movie Coda. More on that film later, but I was all in when I saw that he was starring in a show for the streaming platform.

The show follows Maximo Gallardo, who gets a job at the hottest resort in Acapulco. From the first moment we see Eugenio on the screen to the final episode, the show is HILARIOUS. I loved seeing a story that might not be new but filled with new characters we hadn’t seen before. In addition, I loved each cast member and what they brought to the table.

The show is a breath of fresh air that reminds us to have fun, relax, and don’t be afraid of dreaming big.

The Shrink Next Door

I will admit, Will Ferrell is hit or miss in my book. However, Ferrell’s more grounded and serious work in Everything Must Go is by far one of his best performances. So when I found out that he was attached to The Shrink Next Door alongside Paul Rudd, I was excited but very optimistic.

Crazy enough, the show is based on the true story of Marty, who is a patient of Herschkopf and they form a bond as patient/psychiatrist only for us to find out their relationship isn’t as it appears.

Rudd and Ferrell have a killer dynamic on this show that keeps you on your toes. You love how the foundation of their relationship starts and where it goes kind of blows your mind, especially since what we are watching unfold really happened.

The Shrink Next Door highlights some of my favorite work to date from Ferrell. He brought a relatability to the role that made you feel connected to who he was. The rest of the cast is strong, including Kathyrn Hahn, who plays Ferrell’s sister. She has several show-stealing scenes, especially in those first few episodes.
