Who dies in the Riverdale season 6 “Rivervale” event (and how)?

Riverdale season 6 went for the gold medal in body count in its “Rivervale” event. A total of 19 people died or were killed across the five episode miniseries within the series.
Spoilers ahead of Riverdale season 6!
While it’s true that most people who die in Rivervale will eventually be resurrected that doesn’t mean their deaths are any less horrific, jarring, or sad.
It’s a parallel universe that continuously restarts itself, allowing for character’s relationship dynamics to be erased, rewritten, rearranged, or however their seemingly rule-less existence saw fit prior to it being left in Jughead’s hands.
Here’s who died in Rivervale and, thankfully, if they hadn’t already passed in Riverdale, won’t be staying dead now that we’ve been returned to the town with pep as we knew it before the combination of events that led to Rivervale’s birth.
Who dies in Riverdale season 6? – “Rivervale”
Archie Andrews
When was he killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Six: Welcome to Riverdale”
How?: Ritual sacrifice led by Cheryl Blossom and witnessed by Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, Veronica Lodge, Toni Topaz, Fangs Fogarty, Kevin Keller, Tabitha Tate, Reggie Mantle, Alice Cooper, Frank Andrews, and other citizens of Rivervale. Cheryl stabbed Archie and removed his beating heart from his body in service to The Maple Maiden and returning sap to the Blossom maple groves.
Danny Dickenson
When was he killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Seven: Ghost Stories”
How?: Toni threw a knife meant to disarm Danny’s mother Darla in the middle of a street war between the South Side Serpents and the Ghoulies. Danny dove in front of the knife to protect his mother and it lodged in his heart.
South Side Princess Sandra
When was she killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Seven: Ghost Stories”
How?: Drowned by La Llorona.
Marty Mantle
When did he die?: “Chapter Ninety-Seven: Ghost Stories”
How?: Off-screen with an apparent illness that saw him hospitalized before he passed.
Toni Topaz
When did she die?: “Chapter Ninety-Seven: Ghost Stories”
How?: Toni swapped places with La Llorona in order to protect her son, Anthony. Darla had called the vengeful spirit from the depths of Sweetwater River to enact revenge on Toni for killing her son. The only way for Toni to save Baby Anthony was to become La Llorona herself and sink to the depths of the river.
Nick St. Clair
When was he killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Eight: Mr. Cypher”
How?: Veronica seduced Nick into selling his soul to the devil because she thought she was bartering for Reggie’s soul. Considering Nick regularly assaults and harasses women, it was an easy decision for V who didn’t care when he was dragged to hell. Turns out, however, Reggie had offered her soul to Lucifer not his own.
Glen Scot
When was he killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Eight: Mr. Cypher”
How?: Glen was stabbed by Betty. She thought she’d been killing her nemesis and tormentor, The Trash Bag Killer, but the devil tricked her. He’d taken Glen hostage, dressed him up as TBK, and let Betty’s emotions push her over the edge into murder.
Reggie Mantle
When was he killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Eight: Mr. Cypher”
How?: Veronica made a deal with the devil. In exchange for letting her keep her soul, she’d supply Lucifer with a fresh soul a week from her casino. In retaliation for bartering with her life, V gives Reggie up to the devil and he’s dragged to hell.
James Blossom
When was he killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Witching Hour(s)”
How?: Off-screen. He was murdered by serial killer Fen Fogarty and staged for a death portrait.
Thomasina Topaz
When was she killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Witching Hour(s)”
How?: Murdered by Fen and staged for a death portrait.
Fen Fogarty
When was he killed?: “Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Witching Hour(s)”
How?: Attacked with an axe by Abigail Blossom. He manages to curse her with eternal loneliness and isolation before he dies.
Abigail Blossom
When did she die?: “Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Witching Hour(s)”
How?: After centuries living as Blossom women, including Poppy and Cheryl, Abigail’s soul was laid to rest thanks to a transference assisted by Sabrina Spellman that allowed Nana Rose and Abigail (as Cheryl) to switch bodies at the moment of Nana Rose’s body’s death.
Rivervale Jughead
When was he killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Strangled by Archie.
Hiram Lodge
When did he die?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Off-screen before Rivervale Veronica’s quinceañera. Used as an example of the timeline discrepancy between Riverdale and Rivervale.
Clifford Blossom
When was he killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Shot by Sheriff Keller. Clifford had kidnapped Jason Blossom under the guise of The Black Hood.
Cheryl Blossom
When was she killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Strangled by Archie.
Dilton Doiley
When was he killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Ethel Muggs poisoned him in order to stop his mad scientist plan to allow Rivervale and Riverdale to implode so that he could witness the phenomenon and be the first scientist to observe and take account of the event.
Reggie Prime
When was he killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Challenged Reggie to a duel and lost.
Reggie Mantle
When was he killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Challenged Reggie Prime to a duel and lost.
Veronica Lodge
When was she killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Strangled by Archie. She was going to help Jughead save Riverdale and wipe Rivervale from existence. Archie couldn’t have that because in this universe the majority of people resurrect which leaves open the possibility that his dad could come back, too.
Archie Andrews
When was he killed?: “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox”
How?: Shot in the head by Betty during his attempt to strangle Jughead to death.
