FOX is starting January strong with a must-watch crime drama called The Cleaning Lady.

The series stars Élodie Yung (Daredevil) as Thony De La Rosa, a cleaning specialist who’d been working as a doctor prior to her move from the Philippines. She gave up her career to take a chance on America’s medical system to save her son, Luca.

However, moving stateside stripped her of the profession she knew and loved and seems to have only made life harder. Still, Thony isn’t willing to give up even as she’s turned away when her son needs the healthcare system the most.

It doesn’t help matters that she stumbles into an altercation that escalates into a murder. Her witnessing of the event makes her a liability to some very dangerous and powerful men, but it’s her cleaning skills that set her own a path she could have never imagined.

Erasing their misdeeds for money becomes her means of ensuring that Luca has a future, but it comes with a cost not just morally but also in terms of her safety and possibly her ability to remain in the country.

Thony’s legal immigration status has lapsed. She’s supposed to be lying low. Cleaning up crime scenes not only makes her a target, but it could also see her deported or imprisoned if she’s not careful.
