Dec. 16 UPDATE: Yellowjackets has received renewed for a second season!

Yellowjackets on Showtime is one of the best shows on television right now. Fans can’t get enough and want to know if there will be more episodes after the first season is over. Is Yellowjackets a miniseries or is Yellowjackets season 2 happening?

The Showtime horror-mystery-drama (it’s all the things) follows a New Jersey high school soccer team who fly to Seattle in a private plane to compete in a national tournament. Not long after their plane takes off, it crashes in the Ontario wilderness. They are not found for 19 months, leaving everyone wondering how the few survivors were able to stay alive for that long. There’s little the public knows about what truly happened in the woods.

Yellowjackets moves back and forth, showing audiences what happened during their time in the woods and present time, unraveling many secrets.

Is Yellowjackets season 2 happening on Showtime?

Yellowjackets seems like a miniseries, but it’s not exactly intended to be a one-season show. That said, it could very well be renewed for a second season, especially since its doing well with critics and audiences. However, one has to wonder — would a second season make sense?

Things are moving along nicely, the final episodes of the series will definitely give us some answers and be able to wrap things up nicely. If this happens, there’s no need to stretch the story. I think leaving fans with a cliffhanger after providing little to no answers will only frustrate audiences. But what do I know? I have only screened the first six episodes. The story could still take a different turn, one that would need another season to tell.

As soon as we learn more about the possibility of a second season, we’ll update this post! How do you feel about another season? Would you like it to happen or are you happy with one?

Stream new episodes of Yellowjackets Sundays at 12:01 a.m. on the Showtime app, or watch them at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime, right after a new episode of Dexter: New Blood.
