Robert Pattinson in talks to star in Bong Joon Ho’s next film

Bong Joon Ho hasn’t had a feature film in the works since Parasite debuted in 2019, but he is coming back with a huge project that already has us all excited, and Robert Pattinson is in talks to star.

When Parasite won four Academy Awards in 2020, Bong Joon Ho became a household name worldwide. Wednesday, it was announced that his next project would be an adaptation of the novel Mickey7, a sci-fi story expected to be released in the next couple of months from author Edward Ashton. This film is set for Warner Brothers, with Bong’s production company Offscreen along with Dooho Choi for Kate Street Picture Company and Plan B.

Mickey7 follows an “Expendable,” a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world of ‘Niflheim.’ As you may already know, Bong Joon Ho is no stranger to science fiction. If you aren’t familiar with some of his earlier works, films such as The Host and Okja have fictitious elements, so this should be right up the director’s alley.

Robert Pattinson (who we’ll soon see in The Batman)  is being discussed for the star role. Pattinson doesn’t have any projects listed on his IMDb past The Batman, so teaming up with the acclaimed director could prove to be a highly anticipated pairing. Pattinson, perhaps known for his role in The Twilight Saga, has expanded his acting interests in the past decade, appearing in such indie films as The Rover, Good Time, and The Lighthouse.

Warner Brothers figures to land the one-two punch, having produced The Batman and now this untitled film. No filming date has been announced yet.
