After Parasite’s historic Best Picture win at the Oscars, many fans are looking for more films from Bong Joon-ho. Here are five to watch if you loved Parasite.

“And the Oscar goes to… Parasite.” With those six words, Bong Joon-ho went from a well-respected director to a legend. At the 92nd Academy Awards, Bong Joon-ho shocked the entire world when Parasite won Best Picture. Parasite became the first foreign-language film to win Best Picture at the Oscars.

Simply put, Parasite is a masterpiece. Without giving too much away, Parasite is the story about how a poor family schemes their way into working for a wealthy family. It’s a thrilling black comedy that serves as a metaphor to describe the fraught relationship between the rich and the poor.

At the 77th Golden Globe Awards, Bong said, “Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.” Bong has plenty of other films that will entertain new audiences.

Here are five movies to watch if you loved Parasite.

Memories of Murder

Based on the true story of Korea’s first serial murders between 1986 and 1991, Memories of Murder follows Detective Park (Song Kang-ho) and Detective Seo (Kim Sang-kyung) as they work to solve the case. Memories of Murder is the first of many collaborations between Song and Director Bong. Memories of Murder can be rented via iTunes or Amazon Prime Video.

The Host

More from Movies

Bong turned the monster film genre upside-down with The Host. After a U.S. military doctor orders his Koren assistant to dump chemicals into the Han River, a giant creature called the Gwoemul forms, wreaking havoc on the population. When the Gwoemul kidnaps a man’s daughter, her family takes matters into their own hands and devises a rescue attempt. Quentin Tarantino called The Host a “masterpiece.” Stream The Host on Tubi for free or purchase it on iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, or YouTube.

Mother

Mother is not your typical murder mystery. It’s a drama, comedy, and horror film all wrapped up into one. Mother stars Kim Hye-ja as Mother, an unnamed widow who will do anything to protect her intellectually disabled son, Yoon Do-joon (Won Bin). When her son is accused of murdering a local girl, Mother does everything in her power to prove his innocence. Stream Mother on Tubi or rent it on Amazon Prime Video or Vudu.

Snowpiercer

Director Bong finally made his English-language debut with Snowpiercer, and called in Captain America himself, Chris Evans, to star. Snowpiercer takes place aboard a train that carries the last survivors of humanity after a failed attempt to fight global warning created a Snowball Earth. Evans plays a member of the lower class who starts a revolution against the upper class in the front of the train. Swinton, Song, Ed Harris, John Hurt, and Jamie Bell round out the cast. Stream Snowpiercer on Netflix.

Okja

Only Bong could make a film about a genetically modified superpig that’s so sincere and genuine. Okja stars Ahn Seo-hyun as Mija, a young farm girl who takes care of the superpig, Okja, and her attempts to protect it from a powerful company that wants to profit off it. Okja’s star-studded cast includes Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, Byun Hee-bong, Steven Yeun, Giancarlo Esposito, and Lily Collins. Okja can be streamed on Netflix.
