This Is Us is about relationships and how these interactions are the backbone for every family. Last week’s episode was all about the fathers on the show and how they deal with the problems that face their children.

Let’s start with the superhero father first, which we all know is Jack. Feeling like he hasn’t spent enough time with his children, Jack organizes a movie night with the Big Three at the local theater. When Jack accidentally falls asleep, Kevin walks out of the theater. Thankfully, a security guard takes him to the security office and calls Rebecca.

Wanting to make up for his mistake, Jack organizes an at-home movie night, which is a huge hit with the family. It all comes to a devastating end after he receives a phone call about his mother, who just died.

For Randall, he learned about Deja’s trip to Harvard to visit Malik which included their night together. Randall elects to run off his anger while Beth takes a calmer approach and talks with Deja. When Randall gets back, he shows more sympathy, but then forbids Deja from seeing Malik for the foreseeable future.

Kevin started to feel left out because he was missing major moments of his children’s lives. However, a late-night conversation with Cassidy cheers him up. Meanwhile, Toby and Kate’s disintegrating marriage took another step in the wrong direction after an argument before their date night. They eventually forgive each other and decide to buy a smoker, which is the same smoker that their son Jack uses in a flash-forward!

What happens in This Is Us season 6 episode 4?

Tonight’s episode is all about Jack and his trip to Ohio for his mother’s funeral. From the preview, Jack will run into some trouble with saying goodbye to his mother as he tried to write a eulogy on her behalf.
