Sequels to popular classic horror films seems to be the new trend in Hollywood. David Gordon Green kickstarted this trend and struck gold with his smash hit sequel to Halloween back in 2018. Recently, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett released their sequel to Wes Craven’s Scream, and so on. Tobe Hooper’s classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is next on the list to be granted a sequel to its original film.

Netflix recently released the final trailer for the film today and fans can catch a glimpse of what Leatherface is up to next as well as the new cast.Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) seems to be taking the Halloween Kills (2021) route on placing the popular horror icon into the modern era tackling his toughest enemy yet, Cancel Culture.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre takes on Cancel Culture

Whether you love or hate this idea, director David Blue Garcia is making sure this sequel is packed with intense gore and musty environments. Hopefully, this film will give Tobe Hooper’s original classic justice and something he would be proud of if he was still with us.

Fans of the Evil Dead (2013) film and the first Don’t Breathe film will surely be excited because the film’s director, Fede Alverez, is attached as a producer on this reboot.

With Texas Chainsaw Massacre being the next horror franchise being revitalized for a new audience as well as talks of a new The Exorcist trilogy on Peacock, who knows what other popular horror mascots could scare audiences in the modern era. Will it be Pinhead? Jason Voorhees? Heck, even Freddy Krueger? Only time will tell when these icons make it back onto the big screen and scare audiences all these years later.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) stars Elsie Fisher, Nell Hudson, Sarah, Yarkin, Jacob Latimore, and Mark Burnham. The film will tear its way on February 18, only on Netflix.
