It’s been a week, and we’re still reeling over last week’s emotional episode of This Is Us. It was an episode dedicated to Jack and his complicated relationship with his mother, Marilyn.

Sadly, Jack received news that his mother tragically passed away so he was off to Ohio for the funeral. Back in the past, Jack drove his mother to Ohio to live with her cousin in order to escape her violent husband.

When Jack arrived, he’s greeted by Marilyn’s cousin, Debbie, who lets Jack know just how much his mother cared about him. Jack slowly learned that his mother created a new life for herself, which included a boyfriend, Mike, and a cat.

Jack was tasked with the eulogy, and he struggled to find the right words to say until Rebecca and the Big Three arrived at the funeral. At that moment, Jack realized that both he and his mother found new, wonderful homes for each other. It’s not until he got back to Pittsburgh that the emotion of losing his mother hit Jack, which made him break down into tears.

What happens in This Is Us season 6 episode 5?

Tonight’s episode will touch on Rebecca’s entry into the dating world as she and Miguel try their hand at speed dating. For Kevin, he will head up to the cabin with Cassidy where construction is set to begin on Rebecca’s house. Also, Malik and Deja will have an important dinner with Beth and Randall where the couple will reveal a huge announcement.
