The first three episodes of Peacock’s Bel-Air are now streaming and the new series quickly attracted attention from both new fans and fans of the original sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. If you’re not watching, you’re missing out! Catch up before the next episode is out on Feb. 17.

If you’d like to know a little more about Bel-Air before watching, or if you already watched the first three episodes and are curious about who plays the new characters, you’ve come to the right place! And don’t worry, there are no spoilers ahead.

Bel-Air cast

Starring as Will Smith, the 16-year-old from West Philadelphia, is Jabari Banks. Cassandra Freeman takes on the role of Vivian Banks, Will’s aunt. Adrian Holmes is Phillip Banks, Will’s uncle, and Olly Sholotan is Carlton Banks. Here’s the list of cast members:

  • Jabari Banks
  • Cassandra Freeman
  • Jimmy Akingbola
  • Olly Sholotan
  • Coco Jones
  • Akira Akbar
  • Simone Joy Jones
  • Jordan L. Jones
  • Adrian Holmes
  • April Parker Jones and more

Fans have been very accepting of the new cast, which is something many were worried about since The Fresh Prince is a beloved series. Another concern was that the characters would either not stand out enough, or stand out too much from the original. I would say the character that is the most different from his original is Olly Sholotan’s Carlton. Peacock is definitely going for a dark take of the story and this is what fans of the original series are the most divided about. Carlton is not easy to love. And three episodes in, we are beginning to wonder when Carlton will change into the Carlton we know (if ever).

Bel-Air episode 4 premieres on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 5 a.m. ET on Peacock. If you’ve been watching, are you enjoying the comedy-drama so far?
