Love is in the air this time of the year, and with that, Netflix has released the first five episodes to the second season of Love is Blind.

Once again, we have six couples getting ready for their big day, but every one of them has a crack in the foundation. There doesn’t seem to be a Cameron and Lauren type anchor this time around, making the finale that much more unpredictable. But to get a better understanding of who these people are, and how they became engaged, let’s meet the couples. (Spoilers if you have not yet watched the current episodes)

Who are the couples in Love is Blind season 2?

Danielle & Nick

When you’re the first couple to form, all signs point to a steady ship. Nick was so confident that Danielle was the one, that his proposal to her happened within the first few days. Nick’s nerdy, always positive personality is what got things started, and Danielle’s ability to be vulnerable in the pods is what ultimately sealed the deal.

The first time we see Danielle and Nick in the real world is in Cancun. They’re in the bathroom, brushing their teeth, when Nick reveals that he makes his own toothpaste (a clever concoction of baking soda, coconut oil, sometimes charcoal, and a little peppermint essential oil). The two playfully go back-and-forth on the topic of toothpaste for what seems like a good two minutes. But while this banter was all fun and games, the rest of the vacation was not.

When Danielle comes down with a stomach bug the second day of their getaway, Nick is the only one to go out and socialize with the other couples. Acting as the gatekeeper of drama throughout the night, Nick makes sure to talk to everyone, and Danielle notices as she spies from their balcony. When Nick gets back to their room, Danielle confronts him about his playfulness throughout the night, leading to her admission about having trust issues. Will these issues keep them from tying the knot?

Shaina & Kyle

Poor Kyle. Arguably the nicest guy on the show, Kyle’s proposal to Shaina was only possible because of her falling out with another guy. The two eerily resemble Mark and Jessica from season one, which doesn’t bode well for their fate.

The major difference between the two is that Kyle is an atheist and Shaina is a devout Christian. And although Kyle has made it very clear to Shaina that he is willing to work through this, Shaina seems to find this as a deal-breaker. It also doesn’t help that she still has feelings for another guy.

Shaina decided to leave Cancun early after one day on vacation, leaving Kyle to wonder where they stand. The last time we see the couple, they’re eating lunch on the streets of Chicago, where Kyle reinforces his belief that their relationship can work. Shaina remains hesitant, but Kyle is determined. Will they be able to make things work?

Deepti & Abhishek

In the beginning, it seemed like there was no hope for Abhishek. He would somehow always bring up the topic of weight in the pods, and made it known that physical attraction was a big thing for him (possibly the number one thing). But when Deepti entered the adjacent pod, it seemed like Abhishek’s savior had arrived.

The two had similarities when it came to their culture, and both of them had never dated someone who wasn’t white. Deepti was able to call out Abhishek’s shallow and superficial comments, and as Abhishek admits, opened him up emotionally in ways that he had never experienced.

The only thing keeping them from a loving marriage is Abhishek. Although he admits that emotionally he is in love with Deepti, he continually talks about his lack of a physical attraction towards her. Will Abhishek be able to fully commit to Deepti?

Natalie & Shayne

The goofball of this season, Shayne had quite an eventful time in the pods. He was the one who had a connection with Shaina, and seemed to be bouncing between two women. He eventually landed on one, and at first, it seemed like he made the right decision.

Natalie was the one who challenged Shayne emotionally and intellectually, which is what ultimately led Shayne to his proposal to her. But outside the pods, their interactions are a bit less complex.

Natalie is the sarcastic type who doesn’t like to take things too seriously, and this sarcasm has started to wear Shayne down. Admittedly the type of guy who likes constant affirmations, Shayne quickly realized that Natalie wasn’t the type to give them. Natalie didn’t realize just how much of a bro Shayne is, and the two continue to show their differing personalities. The issues they have going so far don’t seem to be too dire, so hopefully they’ll be able to say I do at the end.

Mallory & Salvador

Bonded by family, Mallory and Salvador seemed like one of the most promising couples to come out of the pods. Mallory turned down a proposal so that she could be with Salvador, and the suspense was building towards their embrace. But when the sliding doors opened, only one of them was overcome with joy.

Mallory, although she couldn’t pinpoint it, thought that there was something off about Salvador physically. So heading into their Cancun vacation, it seemed like the two might not be as strong as initially thought. And it was there that Salvador gained doubts about Mallory.

Red flags went up the night that all the couples met, when Mallory talked to the guy who had unsuccessfully proposed to her. Salvador overheard a bit of the conversation, where Mallory said that it wasn’t a big deal if they didn’t end up getting married. This has been stuck in Salvador’s head ever since, and it’s what’s keeping the two from fully committing to one another. There’s definitely still hope, as both of them genuinely seem like a great fit for each other, but time will tell if things pan out.

Iyanna & Jarrette

Meet the guy who unsuccessfully proposed to Mallory. Throughout the time in the pods, Jarrette was juggling between her and Iyanna, but it wasn’t until he heard no from Mallory that he finally committed to Iyanna. And although she knew this, she still said yes to Jarrette because he was the only one she had feelings for.

While on vacation, the two never really had any major hiccups. Iyanna knows that she was technically Jarrette’s second choice, but on the surface, this doesn’t seem to bother her. The two have not had any major arguments outside the pods, and the only difference between them is that Jarrette is an extrovert and Iyanna is an introvert.

All things are pointing up for the couple, but like any good reality show, anything can happen.

It’s going to be a wild, emotional ride to see where these couples end up at the end of the season, but at the very least, we’re sure to see at least one successful wedding, right?

Netflix is slated to release four more episodes on Friday, Feb. 18, with the final episode airing exactly one week later.
