Pam & Tommy soundtrack: Fans are searching for Third Eye Blind after new episode

Pam & Tommy -- Set in the Wild West early days of the Internet, “Pam & Tommy” is based on the incredible true story of the Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) sex tape. Stolen from the couple’s home by a disgruntled contractor (Seth Rogen), the video went from underground bootleg-VHS curiosity to full-blown global sensation when it hit the Web in 1997. A love story, crime caper and cautionary tale rolled into one, the eight-part original limited series explores the intersection of privacy, technology and celebrity, tracing the origins of our current Reality TV Era to a stolen tape seen by millions but meant to have an audience of just two. Pam & Tommy episode 5, “Uncle Jim and Aunt Susie In Duluth,” is now streaming on Hulu and with an interesting soundtrack. There are only two notable songs in this episode, but one of them is now being searched for on Apple Music, Spotify, and other music streaming services. We’re of course talking about the band Third Eye Blind.

Before you read on, please note Pam & Tommy episode 5 spoilers area ahead!

In episode 5, Motley Crue’s recording room is given to the band Third Eye Blind, and Motley Crue have to settle for a smaller room as Third Eye Blind has just signed with Motley Crue’s label. Needless to say Tommy and his guys are not happy they were bumped for Third Eye Blind. It’s a hilarious moment, especially to those who are familiar with the band.

Did the Motley Crue and Third Eye Blind confrontation really happen like on Pam & Tommy?

According to a couple of sources we found, no. Motley Crue and Third Eye Blind likely never met this way. Ultimate Classic Rock shares that both bands recorded their albums in different locations and cities. So while most events in the Hulu drama miniseries are true, it looks like it is enjoying fabricating a few things to bring audiences a few laughs.

To make things even more fun, the song that plays during the closing credits is “Semi-Charmed Life” by Third Eye Blind, which is fitting for so many reasons. Nice going, Hulu, I see what you did there! What do you think, could this confrontation been possible? Or totally made up? Either way, it was a lot of fun to watch and I’m glad I was reminded of this song so I can add it to my playlist as many have been since watching the episode.

In addition to “Semi-Charmed Life” by Third Eye Blind, Pam & Tommy also featured “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette. Two great, nostalgic tracks!
