With most long-running TV shows, there are some seasons and episodes that are arguably much better than others. It’s hard to please everyone when a fanbase is so large and passionate, and that goes for major series such as Game of Thrones (remember the outrage over the ending?!), Breaking Bad, Lost, and even Friends.

Though most people love the way Friends ended back in 2004, that doesn’t mean fans love every single episode in its 10-season run.

Some of the most popular episodes of Friends include the premiere which started it all, “The One Where Ross Finds Out,” when Ross and Rachel share their first kiss, and “The One With the Embryos” when the group tests each other on who knows the other best. There are so many great moments throughout the show — both hilarious and emotional — that fans will remember forever.

But what about the less-than-great moments? Although Friends is regarded as one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, there have been some complaints from fans. What would people say is the worst episode of the show? Well, according to those on IMDb, it’s in season 4.

What is the worst episode of Friends?

After doing a quick search on the TV and movie site IMDb, in which anyone can sign up and leave reviews and ratings, “The One With the Invitation” is the worst episode of Friends, scoring a 7.10/10. Compared to other episodes, this is fairly low. Check out the voting breakdown here and weigh in with your own score if you’d like!

In case you forget, “The One With the Invitation” is the episode where Ross and Emily are planning their wedding and they have to choose who will be invited. Ross struggles with the decision to invite Rachel, but he ultimately decides to. An emotional Rachel decides she won’t be going to the wedding and instead says she’ll stay back with Phoebe. We see Ross and Rachel relive their relationship through flashbacks as they make their decisions.

In the review section of IMDb for the episode, some complained they don’t like the amount of flashbacks, while another called it “boring.” One user advised viewers that “The One With the Invitation” is one that can be skipped.

As for the best episodes of Friends, “The One Where Everybody Finds Out” from season 5 and “The Last One” (the series finale) from season 10 both received a rating of 9.7/10 on IMDb.
