Titled “Our Little Island Girl: Part Two,” the episode intertwined Beth’s past as a dancer and present as a teacher. In the past, Beth receives inspiration to dance from her father as a little kid. During her college years, Beth runs into her teacher, Vincent, who showed no sympathy for her after the death of her father. When she attempts to confront him on the issue, Beth holds back her true feelings and leaves.

In the present, Beth is preparing her students for an important showcase. One of her students, Stacey, is similar to Beth as a teenager in that they are hardworking, but lack the pure talent of the other students. When Stacey falls down during the showcase, Beth joins her in the center of the stage and motivates her to keep going. The pep talk pays off as Stacey not only succeeds at the recital but becomes a professional dancer in a flash-forward.

Finally, Beth musters up the courage to call Vincent and tell her how she really felt about his coaching. Beth blames Vincent for taking the love out of dancing and tells him that she knows that teaching is her calling.

Meanwhile, present-day Kevin is upset when Madison wants to spend Thanksgiving with the twins and Eli instead of flying to Pittsburgh. After talking with Kate, Kevin realizes that Madison should be able to make her own memories with the twins. Plus, Eli informs Kevin that he really likes Madison and isn’t going anywhere.

In the past, the Pearson teenagers prepare for Thanksgiving. The dissolution of Kevin and Sophie’s marriage is on display when Kevin admits to infidelity. However, Kevin told Kate first, which upsets Sophie and leads to her leaving.
