What would a holiday episode on This Is Us be without drama and tears? Last week’s episode about Thanksgiving provided a lot of tension and awkward moments!

Titled “Taboo,” each timeline revolved around the Thanksgiving dinner table. In one of the past timelines, Rebecca invited her parents, Janet and Dave, to spend the day with her and Jack. Right away, Janet and Rebecca clashed over minuscule things that led to a huge blowup from Rebecca.

Thankfully, Jack calmed both parties down and learned about Janet’s plan to move to CT with Dave, which led to her emotions going haywire. Once Rebecca learned about her mother’s fears, the argument ended, and the two made up.

During the Big Three’s teenage years, Rebecca invited Matt, her new boyfriend, to dinner while Miguel brought his girlfriend Marguerite. Things escalated quickly when Rebecca and Miguel showed perfect chemistry in a game of Taboo much to the dismay of everyone in the room. Sadly, Miguel announced he was moving to Houston to be closer to his children despite revealing his true feelings to Rebecca.

In the present day, Kate and Toby’s marriage continued to dissolve, Randall couldn’t put his phone away, and Kevin sulked over a few chords on his guitar. Rebecca put an end to all of the Big Three’s trivial problems when she announced plans for her future. Miguel will be the primary decision-maker for her health with Kate second in command. More importantly, Recca urged her children to not have their life revolve around her declining health. In her words, “take the big risks.”

Tonight’s episode starts another Big Three trilogy where each member will get an episode dedicated to their story. First up is Kevin, who is at another crossroads in his life. He’s trying to balance co-parenting with Madison while building a new cabin and acting on The Manny. Plus, Kevin still wants to find a wife. It’s safe to say the eldest Pearson child has a lot on his plate.
