Bob’s Burgers is really bringing the heat in spring 2022. Thus far, the show has been on an upward trajectory of featuring new episodes after a somewhat chaotic winter and the trend is continuing heading into episode 15.

With the show usually featuring between 20-22 episodes, we’re easily halfway over with Season 12. Either way, the show has featured some pretty solid episodes and honestly, taken time to reflect on a lot of Belcher family members.

Throughout the series, Tina has really been the star and basically stole the shine away from other members. Now, it seems like the show has a better idea of how to split things up and none could be more evident than this season. Season 12 has focused on Louise, Gene, Teddy and has really only featured one Tina-centric episode.

It looks like another change and the possibly iconic trio is coming in “Ancient Misbehavin” so let’s discuss what happened in the episode. If you haven’t watched, there will be spoilers from this point on.

Bob’s Burgers “Ancient Misbehavin” recap

The episode begins with Louise getting excited about studying Greece at school and she finds out that if they answer the teacher’s questions right, they’ll get a coin. It starts off fine until the teacher doesn’t turn around to acknowledge her, Millie, or Regular-Sized Rudy. The following day, Louise says something to the teacher but she still continues to ignore them and Louise decides to make counterfeit coins of what the teacher’s using.

Louise ends up showing Rudy and Millie her plan by using a clay mold to replicate the coins as long as she can get some gold clay. The next day, she uses Millie and Regular-Sized Rudy to distract everyone so she’s able to steal the coin and make a replica. After school, the trio gets together and is able to make a ton of replica coins.

When they all go to the marketplace at school, Rudy and Millie start acting nervous but it ends up working. Louise tells them to keep a low profile but the other two get greedy over the “big-ticket” items. Millie eventually decides to make coins on her own but they turn out terrible and Louise warns her about making them. Millie drops one of her coins and the teacher explains she put a “security device” in them so she knows which ones are fakes.

The teacher explains they should tell the truth and if they don’t, the party for tomorrow will be canceled, immediately making the trio nervous. Rudy and Millie both call Louise that night with Rudy being scared while Millie is determined to not get caught. The episode ends with the teacher giving everyone a lecture and explaining that she uses all of her money to make the unit so special so Louise decides to tell the truth. The party still happens, but the teacher punishes the three of them for their crimes.

Bob’s Burgers just featured an entirely new yet iconic trio on the show.

While the episode was an excellent one for Louise and featured lots of character development, the highlight had to be the unlikely trio. Louise, Millie, and Regular-Sized Rudy somehow gave us one of the most iconic trios. While some point to the Belcher siblings as the best, these three are a close runner-up.

Throughout the episode, we got a feel for all of their different personalities and it was so refreshing to see. Of course, Louise was the ring leader while Millie was her faithful follower and the “muscle” behind her while Rudy was more apprehensive and anxious. These three were written to show off their worst traits in the best way and there’s something beautiful about that.

Bob’s Burgers doesn’t feature many trios aside from the Belcher kids and occasionally, Bob, Linda, and Teddy. However, pairing up Louise, Millie, and Regular-Sized Rudy hit a sweet spot and it’s one with untapped potential. The three of them are so different, but they complement each other in the best way. Hopefully, the writers decide to feature at least one or two more episodes with them within the next few seasons.

While the episode might not be incredibly memorable, Louise, Millie, and Regular-Sized Rudy working together were iconic. Hopefully, this episode is just the start of what could be a beautiful friendship. Maybe it’s just me who loved these three together, but honestly, they are the trio I’ve been waiting for.
