Do Kate and Toby end up together on This is Us?

It’s no secret that Kate and Toby have been having problems on This is Us. With the current sixth season being the end of the popular NBC show, the series is starting to wrap up storylines to address what’s to come in the future for our favorite characters.

This is Us season 6 has really pulled at our heartstrings when it comes to Kate and Toby. The couple has been arguing more and tensions are usually at a high. One main point of contention is when Kate wasn’t willing to move to San Francisco with Toby when he got a new job. But based on tonight’s promo, Toby is going to be moving back to L.A. to try to make the relationship work.

But even though it seems like the couple is going to try everything they can to keep their marriage alive, we all know how the Katoby story ends thanks to a flashforward back in the season 5 finale.

Do Kate and Toby break up on This Is Us?

Unfortunately, yes. Kate and Toby do get a divorce. In tonight’s episode, appropriately titled “Katoby,”  we’re finally going to get the answers to our questions – why did they get divorced, why couldn’t they make it work, and what was their breaking point?

The season 5 finale came to a shocking end with Kate in a wedding dress and the groom definitely wasn’t Toby.

Who does Kate end up with in This is Us?

The lucky man who will be Kate’s new husband is Philip, Kate’s current boss at Jack Jr.’s music school. The flashforward confirmed a divorce is in Kate and Toby’s future. When Kevin is speaking to Philip before the wedding ceremony begins, he refers to himself as Kevin’s future brother-in-law.

This reveal was devastating for Katoby fans, and it seems like this is the definite direction the show is going to go. It’s frustrating because we’ve fallen in love with this couple’s love for the past five seasons, and now in the last batch of episodes we’re going to see why they don’t get their happily ever after together. The show has invested way too much time in this final season to back out of this decision.

Get those tissue boxes out and ready because we’re definitely going to need them tonight!

New episodes of This is Us season 6 air Tuesdays with the series finale set for May 24 on NBC.
