Moon Knight has introduced audiences to many fascinating new characters, but has episode 3 said goodbye to one of them? What happens to Khonshu? Spoilers ahead if you missed Moon Knight episode 3, now streaming on Disney+.

Final spoiler alert!

In Moon Knight episode 3, we meet the Ennead: Hathor, Osiris, Isis, Tefnut, and Horus. The series also introduces audiences to Anton Mogart, portrayed by the late Gaspard Ulliel. Moon Knight has completely opened up the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again and taken it to new heights. But were we really expecting anything less from Marvel?

Why did the gods imprison Khonshu in Moon Knight episode 3?

Layla and Marc/Steven need to triangulate the stars into coordinates to create a map and know where they need to go. However, the tomb was marked by Senfu about two thousand years ago, which means that stars have since drifted and the directions wouldn’t be the same. To find the exact location, they need to know exactly how the sky looked like on that date. It seems impossible, but not for Khonshu.

Khonshu offers to turn back the night sky two thousand years ago, even if it means being imprisoned for doing so since he already received a warning from the Ennead. This is a very cool scene between Khonshu and Steven as they both turn the night sky. But as the Ennead promised, they imprisoned Khonshu in stone. Khonshu does ask Steven to tell Marc to free him when the gods imprison him, so we have not seen the last of Khonshu just yet! Not to mention, Marc and Steven are going to need their armor to beat the battles ahead.
