Gaslit cast: Who’s in the new Starz series?

Starz premiered its new political thriller drama, Gaslit on April 24. The eight-episode limited series is a new take on the Watergate scandal and focuses on several untold stories during that time.

That includes Richard Nixon’s subordinates, “deranged zealots, and the whistleblowers” who would eventually bring the whole enterprise crashing down. The 60-minute episodes were created, run, and executive produced by Robbie Pickering.

The show focuses on the lesser-known but no-less-key players involved in the downfall of America’s 37th president. Headlining the new series is actress Julia Roberts who plays Martha Mitchell. So who else can you expect to see in Gaslit?

Character descriptions

Martha Mitchell has a big personality with an even bigger mouth, giving her the title “The Mouth of the South.” She’s a celebrity Arkansan socialite and wife to John Mitchell, Nixon’s loyal attorney general. Martha enjoyed frequent guest appearances on news and variety shows, and even appeared on covers of multiple magazines like Life and Time. Despite her party affiliation, she’s the first person to publicly out Nixon with his involvement in Watergate. This causes the presidency and her personal life to unravel.

John Mitchell, Martha’s husband, is one of Nixon’s most trusted advisors. But he is also hopelessly in love and loyal to his wife. After Watergate, he will be forced to choose between Martha and the president.

John Dean is a hotshot young lawyer climbing the ranks of White House Counsel when the Watergate break-in happens. He finds himself in the center of a political scandal and an administration that wants him to take the fall.

Mo Dean meets and falls in love with her husband, John, thanks to a blind date. This happens during the time where he gets embroiled in Watergate. Mo is sharp and quick-thinking, a skill required as the couple are thrust onto a national stage.

G. Gordon Liddy is a former FBI agent and chief operative of Nixon’s “Plumbers” unit. The unit spearhead the Watergate espionage operation as part of Nixon’s reelection campaign. He follows his own moral code, which leads him to protecting the president at all costs.

Marty Mitchell is Martha’s daughter who spent much of her young life living in her mother’s shadow. As events unravel, she is forced to choose between her parents as their marriage falls apart.
