Spoilers ahead of Moon Knight episode 6

If you’ve chosen to keep reading, let’s dive into what happened in the sixth episode!

Is Steven really dead in Moon Knight?

Thankfully, no, he isn’t. Marc chose to leave the Field of Reeds to go back for his alter. Taweret warned him that he wouldn’t be able to return, but Marc pushed on into the desert where he found Steven frozen. In a very lovely speech, our hero admits that he’d always tried to protect Steven because of what he represents i.e. what’s good in the world.

Marc says, “You are the only real superpower I’ve ever had,” and places the stone heart in Steven’s hand so they can share it. This touching moment unfreezes them both from the sand’s of The Duat and they can enter the land of the living to fight another day.

Does Harrow release Ammit in Moon Knight?

While Marc and Steven were in the Duat, Harrow had finally accomplished his task. He’d taken Ammit’s ushabti from Marc’s prone body and brought it to the temple of the gods. To free her, he smashed the ushabti and the goddess was finally in the land of mortals once more. Though Harrow’s scales were unbalanced, she chose to keep him by her side instead of killing him. It broke her own tenet, but he’d saved her and is devoutly loyal, so she makes an exception for him.

What they’re unaware of is Layla sneaking around the tomb, too. She’d gone in disguise and blended in with Ammit’s disciples. Under the direction of Taweret, Layla broke Khonshu’s ushabti and set the moon god free.

Does Layla become Khonshu’s avatar in Moon Knight?

Layla freed Khonshu because she needed his help, however, she still refused to be his avatar. He’s not a god to be trusted. Denying him means he has to fight Ammit on his own at first, and it is not going well. However, when he senses that Marc and Steven are once again alive, he goes immediately to them in spirit.

Our girl Layla, who’s still in the temple, found out from Osiris that she needs to bind Ammit to an avatar in order to rid her of the world but only another avatar can do that. So, while she did refuse to become Khonshu’s avatar, she instead offers herself to Taweret on a temporary basis.

It’s at that moment that the superhero, the Scarlet Scarab, is born!

Do Layla and Marc stay together in Moon Knight?

Everyone loves a good battle couple, right? Well, that’s exactly what this series gives us! As Ammit and Khonshu fight like two massive creatures in a Godzilla movie, Marc and Steven are going up against Harrow. When things get dire for our heroes, Layla dives in with her new found powers which includes shield wings!

Her reunion with Marc and Steven is sweet. While the series doesn’t end with Marc and Layla having moved past what happened, it doesn’t seem like they’ll be parting ways either. But they are going to have to figure out who Marc’s second alter is. We’ll talk more about him later. First, Ammit’s fate.

Does Ammit die in Moon Knight?

No, the goddess doesn’t die. Marc and Layla trap her in Harrow’s body. Khonshu insists that Marc kill Harrow which would also kill Ammit, but our hero stays his hand. He tells the moon god to kill them himself if he wants so desperately for them to be gone. Khonshu doesn’t do it. Instead, he grants Marc his freedom…or so it seems.

Who is Marc’s second alter in Moon Knight?

Khonshu doesn’t live up to his word. In the post-credit scene, Harrow is in a psych ward. When his nurse tries to wheel him away, a man intercedes and takes the disciple. As they head outside, it’s revealed that a member of the staff has been killed.

It turns out the man is taking Harrow to see Khonshu. He puts him in a white limousine where the moon god is in a suit similar to Mr. Knight’s. The supposed protector of humanity explains that he’d never intended to take Layla as his avatar, that Marc is more troubled than he knows, and that he has a  friend in Jake Lockley.

Hello, Marc’s other alter! Jake is the one Marc dissociates into when he’s near death. He’s the alter in the red sarcophagus. The most deadly and unpredictable of Marc’s alters who speaks solely in Spanish at this point.

Does Arthur Harrow die in Moon Knight?

Jake draws his gun and shoots Harrow, but it’s not clear that he’s actually dead. The camera doesn’t show his body, only the limo pulling off.

Moon Knight was meant to be a limited series, however, everyone involved has remained open to a season 2. Recent promotion of the finale has suggested that perhaps there will be a second season.

If that’s the case, Harrow (and therefore Ammit) will likely survive this encounter with Jake. After all, Khonshu could have killed the man when Marc told him to do his own dirty work, but he didn’t. Not to mention, Harrow was in that ward for a bit before Khonshu came to see him. Perhaps there’s more to this story than we know right now.
