6. Life Sentence

If there is anyone who deserves a formal apology from The CW it’s Lucy Hale. Prior to the network’s mishandling of Katy Keene, Hale starred in this other amazing one-and-done series by the name Life Sentence.

In the series, Hale starred as Stella, a young woman who for years thought she had been living on borrowed time only to find out her terminal cancer was cured. Suddenly, Stella had a whole life ahead of her which is great but there’s the whole complicated matter of having to face the consequences of the choices she made when she decided to live like she was dying.

The series was such a warm and feel-good series and it’s such a true shame that the series never resonated strongly with The CW’s audience enough to save it from a swift cancellation.

5. The Tomorrow People

If we had to narrow in on the likely cause of The Tomorrow People‘s demise, it ironically is likely related to a few other series on this list — namely those set within the Arrowverse.

Debuting in 2013, The Tomorrow People centered around evolved humans with special abilities — think the X-Men but without the cool costumes and alter-egos — who were being hunted down by a paramilitary group of scientists named Ultra.

The series was essentially a superhero drama without the superheroes which is likely what played into its demise as the show was overlooked by many in favor of Arrow. As The CW looked ahead toward building what would become the Arrowvesrse, The Tomorrow People fell to the wayside which is a shame as the series had so much potential and could have been a major hit if given the chance to further establish itself.
