Who does Justin Timberlake play in Hulu’s Candy?

In a sweet surprise, those who decided to give Hulu’s new limited series Candy a go may have recognized a familiar face. That’s right if you were wondering if your eyes were deceiving you, think again! Justin Timberlake does have a role in the crime drama.

The five-episode series began streaming May 9 and concluded May 13. It follows the true story of Candy Montgomery and how she gets tangled up in a murder case. The 1980 housewife is a very well-liked member in her community. She did everything “right,” and that’s why she seeks more. The mother of two decides to have an affair with her friend Betty’s husband, Allan. The events lead to the death of Betty, who is found murdered by an axe. She was hit 41 times, 28 to the head. And Candy is the prime suspect.

The cast of the series includes Jessica Biel as Candy Montgomery, Melanie Lynskey as Betty Gore, Pablo Schreiber as Betty’s husband Allan Gore, and Timothy Simons as Candy’s husband Pat Montgomery. So who did Timberlake play?

Who does Justin Timberlake play in Hulu’s Candy?

Timberlake, who is Biel’s real-life husband, first shows up in Candy‘s fourth episode, and once again appears in the final installment. The actor and singer took on the role of Deputy Steve “Diffy” Deffibaugh. The man of the law is very invested in finding out who killed Betty and doesn’t believe Candy had nothing to do with the murder. Though he and the police department thought they had a good case against Candy and she confesses she did kill Betty, it doesn’t work out in their favor. She pleads self-defense and the jury buys it.

Of course this means Biel and Timberlake got to work together in multiple scenes! What makes his appearance even sweeter is that this was the first time Biel and Timberlake have been able to act opposite each other. Perhaps this is the start of some more upcoming projects they do together. But next time, maybe they can choose something a bit more lighthearted!
