American Idol 2022: Who won American Idol season 20?
It’s been a long journey for the aspiring singers on American Idol, and tonight a winner was finally crowned on the ABC series’ 20th season. We now have this year’s American Idol!
Last week we said goodbye to contestants Fritz Hager and Nicolina Bozzo. That left this season’s Top 3: Gold Ticket winner Huntergirl, Leah Marlene, and Noah Thompson.
As a part of the three-hour final episode, judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie performed on stage, as well as Idol legend Carrie Underwood. Some other famous singers made an appearance including Sara Bareilles, Michael Bublé, Flo Rida, Ben Platt, and more.
The remaining trio took to the stage one last time in the finale, singing their hearts out for America’s votes. So who is this year’s winner?
Who won American Idol season 20?
Drum roll, please. This year’s American Idol is… Noah Thompson! Since Thompson began his Idol journey, his chances were very promising. He’s been a popular choice amongst fans of the show.
Of course that means Leah and Huntergirl are the runner-ups this season. But that definitely doesn’t mean they didn’t deserve the title. There are so many talented people who come on this show. But unfortunately there can only be one winner.
It is a bit surprising that Huntergirl didn’t win. I honestly thought she was going to go home with that title. Either way, congratulations Noah Thompson!
The singing competition series will be back next year, as ABC has renewed the show for season 21. It hasn’t been confirmed if the judges and host Ryan Seacrest are going to come back. But it’s very likely they will once again take a seat on the judging panel with Seacrest as host.
