As fans, saying goodbye to a show that’s been on for a decade or more can be extremely difficult. We fall in love with the characters, relate to the storylines, and look forward to watching new episodes every night they premiere. And for the cast of a show that goes on for a while, it can be much harder to close the chapter. For the actors of Friends, they’ve all been open about how much they miss their time on the show and how difficult it was to end it, even though it was the right time for them.

Friends ran for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2004, introducing the world to the iconic group of friends, consisting of Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), and Ross Geller (David Schwimmer). The series still has a dedicated fanbase today who rewatch the show and relive all their favorite memories.

That’s why the actors from Friends are still always asked about their time on the show and are urged to share any never-before-seen photos or tidbits from the beloved sitcom. For the latest, Jennifer Aniston stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show where they talked about a variety of things, including Aniston’s experience concluding the show, as reported by People Magazine.

Jennifer Aniston talks Brad Pitt divorce, Friends ending

When asked how Aniston dealt with Friends ending back in 2004, the 53-year-old actress got extremely candid by opening up about her personal life. Referring to her marriage to Brad Pitt, she shared while laughing, “Well, I got a divorce and went into therapy.”

She went on to add, “Then I did a movie called The Breakup. I just kind of leaned into the end. I was like, ‘You know what, guys? Let’s just make this a completely new chapter. Let’s end everything and start new.'”

It’s an interesting strategy, but one that actually makes a lot of sense. Aniston had to say goodbye to a TV show that was her life for over 10 years, and after that parted ways from her partner of seven years. The actress went on to become even more successful with so many memorable movie roles and even a SAG Award win in 2020 for her role in The Morning Show.
