I won’t lie to you guys, I can’t believe we have entered the sixth month of the year 2022 already. Time is FLYING by. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters and films available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

It’s kind of wild to have the first week of June and no massive release dropping in theaters this weekend. Instead, we have a wide range of limited releases that include a pair of horror films and several options on streaming platforms.

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • Watcher, in theaters
  • Crimes of the Future, in theaters (limited)
  • Dashcasm, in theaters (limited)
  • The Phantom of the Open, (limited)
  • Fire Island, Hulu
  • Interceptor, Netflix
  • Hollywood Stargirl, Disney+

The biggest release of the week is coming in a limited form which is David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future. The film stars Viggo Mortensen, Kristen Stewart and Lea Seydoux. The trailer looks very much like a Cronenberg film. I am sure the film is getting a limited release as it doesn’t look like a movie that will appeal to the masses, but I am excited to see what Cronenberg has in store for us.

Another big release is Hulu’s Fire Island. The film follows a group of queer best friends who gather at Fire Island Pines for their annual week of love and laughter. I saw this one already and it is one of the better romantic comedies we have seen this year. It does a great job of blending the heart and the laughs. Andrew Ahn’s direction mixed with Joel Kim Booster’s writing and Bowen Yang’s great performance, you are all in for a treat.

Were you a fan of the horror-film HOST? Well, director Rob Savage is back with his latest scare-fest with Dashcam. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this film. I hope to check this one out with an audience as I heard it plays well with one.

What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
