If there is one thing Big Brother has taught viewers over the years, it’s to always expect the unexpected as you never know what twists might be lurking around the corner.

While most of these twists typically involve the season’s gameplay in the form of game-changing powers, departures from standard rules and unexpected changes to the game, sometimes these twists come in the form of shocking departures from the game which not even the production team planned for.

Typically, a houseguest’s game comes to an end when they’re evicted by their houseguests or in a cruel twist of fate; however, there have been a few instances over the years in which a houseguest has left the game without a vote ever cast against them.

In addition to several players being removed by the producers over the years for breaking the rules of the game, we’ve also seen a handful of houseguests walk away from the game entirely on their own accord. While rare, it’s something that has come up as recently as this season with the departure of Paloma Aguilar just days into season 24.

Of these four contestants, Garcia is the only houseguest whose exit remains a mystery as no formal explanation was ever provided for his exit only that he left the game on Day 7 due to a personal matter.

Donato’s departure in season 13 was at first explained as being due to a personal matter, but it was later confirmed that he was called into the Diary Room on Day 6 where he was informed preliminary tests detected a possibility he was HIV-positive, a diagnosis which he later confirmed in an interview with People.

Both Lowder and Aguilar left the game due to the toll it was taking on their mental health.
