American Gigolo (2022) release date, cast, synopsis, trailer and more

It feels like right now is the era of reboots and reimaginings, and now we have a new one headed our way. Showtime has developed drama series, American Gigolo, based on the 1980 film of the same name.

Nikki Toscano serves as the showrunner of the show, as well as executive producer. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original film, will also executive produce along with Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, and Russell Rothberg.

Here’s everything we know about the new series!

American Gigolo release date

The show premieres Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 via streaming and on demand for Showtime subscribers. The series will then make its debut on the network’s television channel on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9 p.m. ET.

There are a total of eight episodes. New episodes will continue to drop every Friday via streaming and on-demand platforms before appearing on air Sunday night.

American Gigolo synopsis

The 2022 version of the story follows Julian Kaye. He’s been wrongfully imprisoned for 15 years for a murder. Now that he’s out, he’s going to try and navigate his complicated relationships with his former lover Michelle, his troubled mother, and the people who betrayed him. And, while he struggles to reconcile the escort he was with the man he is today, Detective Sunday is seeking the truth about the murder that sent Julian to prison all those years ago. And this unearths a much larger conspiracy.
