The epic science fiction tale of the brilliant and gifted young man Paul Atreides continues as Dune Part 2 makes its way to cinemas next year! The upcoming film is scheduled to be released on Nov. 17, 2023 worldwide.

Warner Bros. Productions announced production on the new movie is now underway, with filming taking place in Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Budapest, and Italy. Denis Villeneuve is back to take on directing duties from the screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts.

Returning stars include Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, and more. There’s also lots of talented new cast members who have joined the project including Elvis star Austin Butler as the notorious Feyd Rautha, Christopher Walken as the Emperor, and Florence Pugh in a role that has not yet been announced.

Our brave hero will be going on a difficult journey in Dune: Part Two. Check out the official synopsis:

"This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee."

What was the first Dune movie about?

The Dune films are adaptations of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert of the same name. The first movie primarily covered the first half of the book. We were introduced to Paul, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny. Set in the far future, he and his noble family are thrust into a war for the most dangerous planet in the universe, Arrakis. Only those who can conquer their own fear will survive on the deadly and inhospitable desert planet.
