Roswell, New Mexico season 4 episode 8 recap: The Search for Alex

Roswell, New Mexico season 4, episode 8, “Missing My Baby,” gave us all what we’d been waiting for. With the pod squad now in the loop about Alex being missing, as well as Dallas and Bonnie, it was time for the search for the missing crew to begin. Of course, things can never be easy, especially when the truth is being kept from one key person.

In hopes of sparing Michael further pain, Liz felt it would be better to hold off on telling him that Alex is missing. After confirming that he never checked in with Deep Sky, Maria tried hard to make a connection with Alex once again.

Rosa, in the hopes of aiding Maria with her echolocation powers, came to give her a hand and support. As they followed Mimi’s own steps like when she would wander through the desert, they did discover locusts. Unfortunately for them, Michael was nearby and overheard them discussing Alex being missing.

At first, Michael was in disbelief, but slowly, he began to realize the heartbreaking truth, that his boyfriend had been missing the whole time and he never knew. Heartbroken and furious, Michael lashed out at his friends for keeping this from him.

Roswell, New Mexico season 4 episode 8 began the search for Alex

Michael felt betrayed by Max for keeping the secret, and Max was definitely in the wrong for not standing by his brother. In hiding from his true self, Max hasn’t been making the best choices on how to handle things.

Liz, who had been working on the cure to counteract Bonnie’s powers, went to see Michael to help restore his powers. She apologized and explained why she kept the truth from him but it was easy to see that Michael mainly blamed himself. He was so busy focusing on his past, he missed the future that he had been building.

After he apologized to Maria and Rosa at the Wild Pony, they tried to connect with Alex once again. They heard beautiful music coming from the keyboard and Michael recognized the song. It was the song Alex wrote about their relationship. Alex used the lights to lead them to Michael’s car where he kept an old map. With the glowing pendant Michael has been wearing, they were led to Grant’s Pass.

They knew they were in the right place when they found Theo’s glasses case, which Maria knew Dallas had. When Maria almost got caught in the quicksand, Max arrived in time to help save her from going under. Maria was able to see into another dimension through the sand and she spotted Alex’s pendant.

Michael tried to go in to save his boyfriend, but Max knew he needed to keep his head in the game, and that Alex wouldn’t want him to just jump in. Michael fully broke, weighed down by the impact of knowing his boyfriend was within reach but not being able to get to him.

This was such a powerful episode for Michael, showing how heartbroken and angry he was. As much as he may have been upset at being left out of the loop, you could feel the anger he had with himself for not listening.

Secrets and relationships are revealed on Roswell, New Mexico season 4, episode 8

Liz’s work to regenerate Michael’s cells led to a shift in her relationship with Shivani. They opened up to each other throughout the episode, but then Liz found out another secret of Shivani’s. She had her daughter Nicole cryogenically frozen in hopes of reviving her from the dead. Shivani feels Liz’s breakthrough with the alien cells could lead to regeneration in human cells.

Shivani had gotten some of the mist on herself, and Liz tried to talk her down. Unfortunately, Shivani dropped the entire bottle of the mist and they both passed out from the fumes.

In addition to these revelations, Isobel also learned about her history with Tezca. It looks like she had been her teacher until Jones somehow twisted her views so she was on his side. And he had been hoping to use Liz for the alighting.

With Tezca now seemingly on their side, will they work together to defeat Clyde? The evil triad seem to no longer be one, so we’re interested to see how this all plays out. Hopefully this will also help them to get Dallas and Alex back sooner if they are on the same side.
