In a world where people are constantly comparing themselves to others, following along with beauty trends, and struggling to look a certain way, it’s safe to say it can’t be easy for actors who are just starting to become super famous. Celebrities such as Selena Gomez and Lili Reinhart have been extremely open about dealing with body image issues and have spoken out on body positivity.

Back in the 1990s, beauty standards pushed women to lose weight and be incredibly thin, even if that wasn’t their body type.

As for the cast of Friends, Lisa Kudrow has spoken out previously on how fittings were “not fun” as she always compared herself to her co-stars, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox. Kudrow recognized that she has a “different body type” than the two actors, which wasn’t easy for her coming into the spotlight.

Now, in a new interview on the podcast Podcrushed, Kudrow was asked about experiencing body insecurities, where she revealed it wasn’t until she joined the cast of Friends that she started feeling that way. She clarified that she never had those issues growing up, and if anything she had body dysmorphia the opposite way, feeling that she was “really skinny” like her family members when she might not have been.

However, when she started watching herself on TV alongside Aniston and Cox, she was shocked. Kudrow said it wasn’t any headlines that made her feel bad, but simply comparing herself to her two co-stars. This gave her the “jarring” realization that she needed to lose weight and start dieting.

“I’m not trying to say I was overweight,” Kudrow was sure to add. “I was not. I just had no idea of the actual shape of my body.”

It wasn’t until Kudrow reached her 40s that she started to realize she can accept herself for who she is, no matter what size. “It’s OK. This is just what I look like,” she stated.
