We have a brand new comedy film coming to Netflix on Friday, Me Time. Is it worth checking out? I share my review below.

Me Time follows Sonny, a stay-at-home dad who, for the first time in years a little bit of me time. The film stars Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, and Regina Hall.

If you know me, you kno Kevin Hart is my guy and I don’t think the man misses. From his hilarious stand-up to Fatherhood and his incredible turn in the Netflix series True Story. Now pair him with Wahlberg and I’m excited to sit down and enjoy this ride.

The movie kicks off with an introduction to Sonny (Hart). He’s a stay-at-home dad that holds the fort down while his wife, Maya (Hall), is one of the best architects in the world. Sonny is the biggest supporter of his wife and her career. We see that he’s very much involved with his kids, whether that’s making sure his daughter has her EpiPen with her at all times or helping his son prepare for the talent show, in which Sonny is the producer.

However, life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies as we know and one day, his old friend Huck who he would spend every birthday with, gives him a call to come to spend his birthday with him. Sonny isn’t about that life anymore until Maya decides he needs some “Me Time.” Although spending this time wasn’t going to include Huck, he ultimately changes his mind and decides to join him for this birthday bash.

Me Time is the comedy 2022 needed

Once the duo gets together, the rest is basically history. From being chased down by a lion to getting drunk to making bad decisions about one of his wife’s friends, Huck brings out the crazy side of Sonny that hasn’t been out since before he was a father.

I will forever stand by the statement that Kevin Hart is the funniest man in comedy, whether on the stage performing stand-up or playing in a movie. He has “IT,” and “IT” isn’t easy to come by, especially in the world of comedy.

Time and time again, Hart delivers and what makes him so good at his craft is his ability to bring out the best in his co-stars, from The Rock to Ice Cube to Will Ferrell and in Me Time, Mark Wahlberg. He doesn’t get nearly the credit for bringing what he does to this space.

Speaking of Wahlberg, who I believe has some genuine comedic chops to him. His portrayal of Huck reminded me a little of his character from Pain & Gain (a classic), and we see some hilarious moments from him throughout the film. Another standout is Regina Hall, who is a DELIGHT in everything she touches.

The entire movie is just pure fun and will have you laughing non-stop for almost two hours. I will also say there is one hell of a funny cameo in this movie that makes for one of the funniest scenes of the year.

Overall, Hart and Wahlberg joined together to make one of the funniest movies of 2022. It is the much-needed comedy right now that we haven’t seen in theaters or streaming platforms in months—a must-watch for everyone.
