Who voices Jiminy Cricket in the live-action Disney+ Pinocchio movie?

Disney+ Day is bringing with it all sorts of goodies for us fans, and that includes the premiere of CGI live-action, Pinocchio! The musical adventure film will drop Thursday, Sept. 8 on the streaming service.

The most recent retelling of the Disney film is directed, written, and produced by Robert Zemeckis. Chris Weitz also takes on writer and producer duties. Andrew Miano and Derek Hogue produce, with Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine, Jeremy Johns, and Paul Weitz serving as executive producers.

We all know the classic tale from the 1940 animated movie, based on The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi that came out in 1883. Childless woodcarver Geppetto creates Pinocchio. He wishes upon a star for the puppet to become a real boy. Hearing his wish, the Blue Fairy makes it come true – partially. While a very happy Geppetto raises the puppet who has come to life like he’s his own son, Pinocchio has to learn to be selfless, brave, and true to become a real boy.

Along the way, the almost real boy has a faithful companion who helps guide him and serves as his “conscience” so he can achieve all three of those traits. Who voices everyone’s favorite cricket?

Who voices Jiminy Cricket in the live-action Disney+ Pinocchio movie?

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt uses his vocal talents to bring beloved character Jiminy Cricket to life! The 41-year-old star and filmmaker began acting after joining a musical theater group when he was only four years old.

Afterward, Gordon-Levitt was scouted and began appearing on television commercials. By the time the actor was six, he began starring in several made-for-television films. As an adult, he’s most known for playing Rex Lewis/Cobra Commander in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Arthur in Inception, and Robin “John” Blake in The Dark Knight Rises.

His co-stars in the 2022 film are Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the titular character, Tom Hanks as Gepetto, Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key as “Honest” John, Luke Evans as The Coachman, and Lorraine Bracco as a new character that will be introduced, the Seagull.

Pinocchio premieres Thursday, Sept. 8 on Disney+.
