Roswell, New Mexico season 4, episode 12–“Two Sparrows In A Hurricane”– is the penultimate episode of the final season and it focuses on the aliens trying to escape from the pocket dimension. In addition to trying to save themselves, Max goes to Tezca in order to conquer his fear as Liz deals with a setback because of the mist.

With a storm brewing in the pocket dimension and facing his own imminent death, Alex is ready to have Dallas marry him and Michael. However, despite starting off with vows, Michael can’t do it. He wants to be able to marry Alex on their world surrounded by their friends once he’s healthy again.

Instead, the three aliens and Alex go to search for bits of fuel left in the ground where the tree roots are standing. This will help give them what they need to get home.

Unfortunately for them, Clyde has been given the serum to rid himself of the tattoo and he enters the pocket dimension, taking Bonnie with him.

Meanwhile on Earth, Max and Isobel are worried for their friends and decide to go into the pocket dimension to help them. Before he goes in, Max goes to see Liz to take the mist.

Liz herself has been dealing with a crisis, where her memory is failing her ever since taking the mist in question. But she avoids telling Max everything, not wanting to deter him from getting his powers back to stop Clyde.

Before they enter the pocket dimension, Isobel takes Max to Tezca to work on his training. Despite not trusting her, Max does the best he can to control his powers. As difficult as it is, he does pretty well and they are ready to enter the quicksand. But not before Isobel and Kyle share a steamy kiss in front of their friends!

Maria, in the meantime, has been working with Sonya to figure out how to use her abilities to communicate with her friends. Sonya helps Maria to not just try to communicate with Alex, but to talk to someone else she’s close with. This turns out to be Dallas and she gets information from him on the fuel ingredients Michael found that Liz can make on her end.

After Kyle and Rosa help Liz when she feels herself beaten down by this new setback, they all work together to make sure that not only can they avoid Shivani from stealing the console from them, but to make the fuel needed to help their friends return home.

In the pocket dimension, Clyde manages to take Bonnie’s blood from her and inject it into himself before Max and Isobel arrive to stop him. Once the group meets again, Clyde reveals the dimension is breaking because Michael and Max arriving triggered it. Theo had made it so anyone with Jones’ DNA would cause the dimension to break, killing everyone inside.

Dallas finds himself feeling conflicted over what his father did, but Isobel points out that he wasn’t a bad person. He was a man who was faced with making a devastating decision in a situation that was unimaginable.

Luckily, everyone manages to come together to open the portal, until Clyde breaks free of his alien cuffs. Because of Bonnie’s blood holding the powers of those she stole, he now has both Michael and Max’s powers. He drains the console of the fuel it needs and goes back to Earth.

Michael, feeling devastated, apologizes to Alex, who quickly shuts him down. He orders Michael to figure out how to save them, as there are six aliens present, after all.

Thankfully, the group does manage to work together to escape the pocket dimension, but Tezca, who had arrived to help Max and Isobel, is stuck since she has Jones’ tattoo. With her death, she has sacrificed herself to save the children of those she once fought against.

With the series finale afoot, there is a lot of ground to cover. From Liz’s memory loss to Malex’s wedding and Kybel flourishing, we’re looking forward to, and dreading to say goodbye, as well as seeing what is in store for the pod squad.
