HBO Max has a new political drama, The Girls on the Bus, in the works. A release date has not been announced yet. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a cast list!

The comedic, character-driven drama will follow four female journalists who follow the every move of numerous flawed presidential candidates. They find friendship, love, and scandal along the way.

The series is written and executive produced by Amy Cozick and Julie Plec. Joining them with EP duties are showrunner Rina Mimoun, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. According to Deadline, real-life senior political correspondent Abby Phillip has joined the show as a consultant.

So which stars will we see in the new series?

Who’s in the HBO Max series The Girls on the Bus?

Melissa Benoist has been tapped to play the lead role of Sadie McCarthy. Her character is a journalist who romanticizes the Boys on the Bus book by Tim Crouse. She’s scrapped her own life for a shot at covering a presidential campaign. On the road, she bonds with three female competitors.

Those three are Grace, Lola, and Kimberlyn. But despite their differences, the three women form a strong bond and get a front-row seat into the battle for the White House.

The role for the Grace character has not been cast yet. Here is the full cast list so far, according to Deadline:

  • Melissa Benoist as Sadie McCarthy
  • Natasha Behnam as Lola
  • Christina Elmore as Kimberlyn
  • Scott Foley as a not so known mayor from Kansas who has joined the presidential race.
  • Brandon Scott as the fiercest political flack in the game who has just been hired as press secretary to the presidential front-runner
  • Griffin Dunne as Bruce Turner, Sadie’s editor and mentor
  • Leslie Fray as Nellie Carmichael, a junior correspondent at Liberty National News who works alongside Kimberlyn.
  • Kyle Vincent Terry as Eric Jordan, Kimberlyn’s adoring and supportive boyfriend.
  • Becky Ann Baker as Norah, Sadie’s protective mother who’s not happy Sadie is re-entering the political arena.
  • Richard Bekins as a seasoned elder statesman and politician who has been running for president since Sadie was in diapers.
  • Tala Ashe as a presidential candidate and clearly Lola’s favorite in the presidential race.
  • PJ Sosco as Hunter S. Thompson, a famed gonzo journalist.
