The bros are back in town!

If you’ve been waiting patiently for the Bros movie to come out or even if this is the first time you’re hearing about it, you have to keep an eye out. The movie is going to be the first gay rom-com to be released by a major-motion studio.

Looking to catch the movie when it premieres Friday, Sept. 30? Here’s what you need to know about its rating and the content that’s in the film.

Why is Bros rated R?

Bros is advertised as a romantic comedy movie, but it’s one more suited for older adults. The MPAA has given the movie an R rating for strong sexual content, nudity, language throughout and drug and alcohol use.

According to IMDB’s parental guide, there is a large amount of alcohol use. The film takes place in New York City which is infamous for its bottomless bar scene in addition to a few club/party scenes as well.

As evidenced in the trailer, there is references to sexual activity and nudity and since sexuality and sex play a huge role in this film, that means you’ll witness public and private displays of affection throughout the film, as is common in most romantic comedies from the creative mind of Nicholas Stollar (Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Neighbors).

Is Bros fine for older teens to watch? Well, my fellow movie goer, that’s up to you. The film having an R rating attached to it includes a recommendation that children under the age of 17 can view in theaters if they are accompanied by an adult.

Overall, if you’re over the age of 18 and looking for a rom-com to take the edge of your week, you might find what you’re looking for in Bros. For those of you looking for the official red band trailer, you’ve come to the right place. Check it out down below:
