Ready for the next reboot? The comedy-drama series Reboot just hit the streaming service and it’s already gotten some positive buzzReboot stars Keegan-Michael Key, Judy Greer, Johnny Knoxville, Calum Worthy, Rachel Bloom, and Paul Reiser.  According to Indiewire, the show is about “the dysfunctional cast of an early 2000s hit sitcom, Step Right Up, who must face their unresolved issues and navigate social media cancel culture when a young writer pitches a reboot of their show.” The story switches from drama to comedy fairly quickly and if you want to know more about this series, keep reading down below!

Is Reboot worth watching?

I went into this show with sincere but skeptical expectations. To be frank, the cast drew me in and kept me engaged and after watching the first three episodes, it was clear to me that this show definitely deserves a second season.

The show currently has a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes which is above-average for a show-about-a show. I was happy to see Paul Reiser in a featured role. If you claim to be a sitcom super-fan, it’s worth it to do a deep dive and you’ll find out that he starred in famed comedy series My Two Dads and Mad About You. Casting Judy Greer and Keegan-Michael Key in the lead roles was the perfect choice. Their continuous work in film and television speaks to their ability to sink into the skin of these semi-narcissistic characters who are still trying to find their way in this industry and in their personal lives due to their shared history. It adds another layer to the series that was definitely needed.

Calum Worthy and Johnny Knoxville give knockout performances as well, showcasing their dramatic chops while bringing innocence and levity to the more dramatic parts of the show. What makes this show even more genius is that all of the main characters do come from comedic or sitcom backgrounds so every interaction feels genuine. This is what you want from a show like this. As I mentioned previously, I’m hoping this show gets a second season. While we’re not even half-way through the show, the performances from these high-caliber character actors prove that they can carry this storyline for as long as possible.

It’s definitely one of those shows that you don’t want to miss out on. It combines the dramatized yet interesting look at ‘reboot television’ culture and the foreseeable future of television programming. It’s a great watch and should be added to your watchlist as soon as possible.
