East New York on CBS: What is East New York about?

New police procedural, East New York, is now a part of the fall TV lineup. The series, starring Amanda Warren, premiered Oct. 2 on CBS.

The first episode aired at 9:30 p.m. ET. But don’t be confused with the schedule! Starting Oct. 9, the show will move to its regular time slot of 9 p.m. ET. You can watch episodes live on the network or Paramount+, as well as watch them the next day they air on the streaming service.

The new series stars Amanda Warren as Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood, Jimmy Smits as Chief John Suarez, Ruben Santiago-Hudson as Officer Marvin Sandeford, Kevin Rankin as Detective Tommy Killian, Richard Kind as Captain Stan Yenko, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Detective Crystal Morales, Olivia Luccardi as Officer Brandy Quinlan, Lavel Schley as Officer Andre Bentley, and C.S. Lee as Sgt. Jimmy Kee.

What is East New York on CBS about?

East New York centers around Regina Haywood, the newly promoted boss of the 74th precinct in East New York, a working class neighborhood on the edge of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is on the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification.

Since the deputy inspector has family ties in the area, she is even more determined to come up with creative ways to protect her beloved community. She hopes to do this with the help of her officers and detectives. But first, she has to convince some of them that her ideas are a step in the right direction as some are skeptical of her promotion, and others resist the changes she’s trying to make.
