Finally, finally, Bold fans, Ridge is making a choice between Brooke and Taylor. A real one, not one that’s watered down because Brooke has a broken ankle and he wants to make sure she’s taken care of properly. Today’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful saw Ridge literally chasing after Taylor because he was determined to get her to listen to him.

Like Steffy, we had a front row seat to the start of his plea for Taylor to make a life together. As I’ve said before, Aspen is where the soap goes for its romantic shake-ups, reunions, and beautifully set declarations. Even Bill joined in on the fun of reminding the audience of the location’s importance by invoking the memory of his and Brooke’s time in the gorgeous locale.

How did Taylor take Ridge showing up and interrupting her girls’ trip with Steffy? Not well. Here’s what happened on today’s episode.

The Bold and the Beautiful recap (Oct. 6)

When Ridge went in to hug Taylor, she sidestepped him. Her reaction to his arrival was frosty. As she told him, she’s in Aspen to get away from him and he ruined her plan. He, however, was undeterred because he came to Colorado to talk to her and that’s exactly what he planned to do whether Taylor was up for their much needed chat or not.

Unbeknownst to them, Steffy was in the house on the phone lamenting her mother’s defeated spirit to Thomas and confessing that she was starting to give up on Taylor and Ridge getting back together. But, she didn’t hold onto that sentiment for long because she immediately spotted their parents talking to each other outside the window.

Her excitement, of course, was picked up by Thomas as she relayed that Ridge had come to Aspen. Their dad hadn’t told anyone he was leaving LA, so this was incredible news to her brother. It was also shocking to Eric and Donna.

The newly minted couple had planned to jet-set to the Caribbean, but that didn’t pan out because the Forrester jet had yet to return from Aspen. Eric noted that he and his son usually inform one another when they’re going to be using the jet but Ridge failed to do so this time. Donna couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right about his impromptu trip.

Eric tried to explain it away as a business meeting, but Donna knew better. She and Pam are the fashion firm’s secretaries. There isn’t an appointment or meeting set that those two don’t know about and Ridge didn’t have a trip to Aspen booked.

Donna was also surprised that Ridge took the jet on his own without Brooke coming along for the ride. Her suspicions led her to call Brooke to lightly fish around for whether or not her sister knew Ridge had left the state. Of course, she didn’t, but Brooke knew instantly why her husband was in Aspen.

Earlier, she’d entertained a surprise visit from Bill who stopped by to talk to her about his continued failed attempts to win Katie back. He said he had a feeling Ridge wouldn’t be home so he figured he’d risk catching up with his former sister-in-law and ex-wife.

The visit provided Brooke with the information she needed to put two-and-two together about Ridge’s whereabouts. In-between ragging on Brooke’s choice of husband and reminding her that he, too, is a romantic as she knows due to their own time in Aspen and their wedding in Dubai, Bill informed Brooke that he’s selling his Aspen house and Steffy and Taylor are there checking it out.

With the pieces coming together for her, we doubt Brooke is going to sit idly by while Ridge is off wooing Taylor. Though it should be noted that Taylor isn’t playing easy to get. The Forrester has his work cut out for him because his best friend and soulmate isn’t willing to open her heart to him again…at least not yet.

He told her that he’s not asking to have a life with her again because of Brooke or their kids but we all know that’s a flimsy statement. The catalyst for his decision to choose Taylor was the call to Child Protective Services that, for all we know, Brooke made.

There’s no doubt that his heart is in the right place as he fights for Taylor, but he’s also not telling her the whole truth of the matter. Taylor’s biggest romantic fear is that Ridge is going to pull the rug out from under her and go back to Brooke like he’s always done. This is a cyclical scenario for them and she’s tired of doing it. That’s why she’s emotional and anxious about saying yes to the life Ridge is offering.

But, as that chase scene down a tree-lined trail showed, Ridge is serious. He made his choice. Taylor is it for him. He wants a life with her because he loves her and he means that. As for us, we’ll have to wait and see if Taylor gives in and lets her heart lead her one more time.

Also, the CPS call is still in play. Thanks to Thomas, we got a flashback of the events that led to Ridge making his decision today. Until that plot is resolved, Ridge’s choice hangs in the balance. Either it will hold regardless of whether Brooke actually called the authorities or the shoe will drop for Taylor and she’ll have to cut Ridge out of her life like she threatened to do during his confession.

Until next time, Bold fans. Stay beautiful!
